Garmin Nuvi 1300 Review

Garmin Nuvi 1300 Review – Why You Should Buy This Popular GPS Satellite Navigation System

The Garmin Nuv 1300 has a wide screen (4.3 inch diagonal) display making it easy to view lots of information which is especially useful for seeing all the routes to either side of the current road.

This unit is not overloaded with unnecessary features and is housed in an ultra slim package making it convenient to take with you in your pocket or purse. As well as the usual Navteq maps you can also use it with CityXplorer which as the name suggests makes it easy for exploring cities. You can obtain individual city guides by downloading then from the Garmin website.

Features:

  • Completely portable.
  • Long charge hold time.
  • CityXplorer for navigating cities on foot.
  • Fuel saving ecoRoute technology.

EcoRoute

A useful feature for today’s rising gas prices is the addition of ecoRoute which tracks your driving style using GPS satellite information and figures out the cost of driving to a particular destination. You can use this to compare the cost of using each route.

As well as this, ecoRoute has another mode where you can let the Garmin 1300 decide on the most fuel efficient path but be warned this is more than likely going to be slower that your usual mad dash because saving fuel means less acceleration and lower speeds. But it does work and it will save you fuel if you have the patience for it!

HotFix(tm)

As with most Garmins the unit includes the Hotfix(tm) feature that remembers the GPS satellite locations for speedy start the next time that you power up the device.

Summary

This unit is a good performer and will not let you down. As a basic unit without unnecessary bells and whistles this unit performs extremely well.
