   Normally a GPS unit comes with the windshield mounting hardware and everything else you need to operate it. It has a suction cup sort of thing, and is easy to remove, since it is a good idea to hide the unit and mounting hardware when leaving the car in the open.

   Get him a captains hat and a gas card because he’s gonna want to drive around and get lost trying to outsmart the unit.
   only kidding….comes with everything unless the unit has a traffic receiver for traffic conditions (subscription required).
   But that’s optional. You don’t have to get it.
   You may have to update some units for newer points of interests.
   You can do that with a camera usb wire
   You may need an SD card if it has a slot (for future updates), but you don’t need that.
